Donald E. Sampson November, 20, 1940 - August 27, 2023 Donald E. Sampson, 82, formerly of Galesburg and Erie, IL, died Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Toulon, IL. Visitation will be held from 12:00 - 1:00 PM Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Erie. Graveside Services will be at 2:30 PM Thursday in the Abingdon Cemetery. Don was born November 20, 1940 in Herman, IL, the son of Robert and Ethel (Jennings) Sampson. He was employed as a janitor for Maytag for 30 years. He was a member of the Masonic Order and enjoyed stock car racing. He is survived by a special friend, Ellen Heinsen, Erie, and a number of nieces and nephews.
